HEAVY-DUTY HARDWOOD

Scientific name Cynometra spp. (Leguminosae). It is a great alternative for popular hardwood species such as Chengal and Balau.

It has an higher density than another popular hardwood species which is certified as the strongest wood by the Malaysian Timber Industry Board - Chengal.

Appearance

Kekatong's heartwood is red-brown or claret red in colour and is attractively streaked with lighter coloured layers and often has a unqiue feature of small brown-black corewood. With shallowly interlocked grain pattern, as well as moderately fine and even texture.

Strength

Kekatong is an excellent choice for outdoor applications where exposure to harsh environment.
